it might be result of the splash damage. The battle report doesn't show the attacked units in order. So actually your elites attacked the Cook last and thus made only partial damage.

okay now after a few attacks the list Melee units - Ranged units - Special units - Boss/Elite makes more sense. It's the order in which the troops are attacked but not the order in which they attack....

In the post the order is Melee units - Ranged units - Special units - Boss/Elite units so maybe Elite soldiers are in the last group.

I attacked camp with 60 Roughnecks and 140 Rangers which both have initiative: second strike with 25 Soldiers, 25 Elites and 50 cannons.
